DXC Develops GenAI Platform for European Space Agency
ASHBURN, VA, 13th February 2025 – DXC Technology got a contract from the European Space Agency to build an enterprise-level AI platform to achieve the speed of deploying generative AI solutions. Called “ASK ESA,” the platform is expected to streamline the sharing of knowledge and optimize ESA’s vast store of data resources.
ASK ESA is being developed in partnership with Mistral AI and powered by NVIDIA to provide ESA with a scalable and secure AI-based environment. This project is spearheaded by Francois Margottin, Head of Application Services at ESA, to promote and facilitate state-of-the-art applications with AI use across departments, while being compliant with ESA’s AI and data policies.
“By working with DXC and applying agile methodology, we quickly evolved from a prototype experiment to corporate production maturity with a robust and scalable solution,” said Charles Antoine Poncet, IT Portfolio Manager & AI Leader at ESA.
The ASK ESA platform will therefore allow modularized AI functionalities such that the agency can securely process and analyze large volumes of data. DXC’s proven expertise thus guarantees that high standards of privacy will be maintained for harnessing the full potential of AI within a safe environment.
“By using AI to unlock data in secure private environments, we are helping businesses and government organizations around the world accelerate growth and increase agility,” said Howard Boville, DXC President, Consulting and Engineering Services – Powered by AI. “In partnership with the European Space Agency, we’ve built a powerful platform that will help them quickly deploy practical AI solutions that deliver value.”
According to the agreement, ESA and DXC’s 15-year-old collaboration is extended and emphasizes the growing prevalence of AI at space research and digital transformation levels.
