LG Achieves KOLAS IoT Cybersecurity Testing Accreditation to Strengthen AI
SEOUL, Jan. 15, 2025- Cybersecurity is something LG Electronics is getting increasingly more serious about due to the all-round mainstream acceptance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Internet of Things (IoT).
The company’s software testing labs can now ensure IoT device cybersecurity testing under Korea Laboratory Accreditation Scheme-KOLAS. This achievement ensures that LG’s testing processes meet international standards and are recognized across 100+ countries, including the U.S. and Japan.
This accreditation allows LG to independently test its IoT devices’ compliance with European Telecommunications Standards Institute (ETSI) cybersecurity protocols. The move will save time and cut down on costs for product testing, which is a major boon as global security regulations are tightened.
LG joins the prestigious organization as the first South Korean laboratory to operate beyond simple electrical safety and has extended its testing into the domain of home appliances and automotive software. This expands LG’s mission of delivering safer quality products to customers across the globe.
LG is also continuing to advance “Responsible Intelligence,” a key tenet of its Affectionate Intelligence framework, via the establishment of strong cybersecurity features on its AI-capable devices. It further protects user data using advanced AI and prevents breaches altogether so that sensitive information can be kept securely stored.
“We will continue to strengthen our cybersecurity capabilities to meet the latest global cybersecurity regulations and improve our software competitiveness,”
Said Park In-sung, Head of LG’s Software Center
The systems secure devices by encrypting personal data, restricting unauthorized access through real-time threat detection, and securing operational software.
This comprehensive approach protects customer data from the moment of development and right through to the end use after launch. With all these initiatives, LG focuses on consumer safety and trust in an ever more interconnected digital world.
