WRITER Appoints Eric Freeman as First Chief Information Security Officer, Reinforcing Commitment to Secure, Enterprise-Grade AI
Freeman will scale the company’s end-to-end security strategy, enabling Global 2000 customers to confidently build, deploy, and supervise AI agents at scale
WRITER, the leading agentic AI platform for the enterprise, announced the appointment of Eric Freeman as its first Chief Information Security Officer (CISO). A veteran of scaling security programs in high-growth SaaS and infrastructure environments, Freeman will expand and accelerate WRITER’s end-to-end security strategy, reinforcing its commitment to providing the Global 2000 with the most trusted platform for building, deploying, and supervising agents.
“Our customers are building their future on WRITER because they know their agents are as secure as they are powerful,” said May Habib, CEO and Co-Founder of WRITER. “Security isn’t an add-on, it’s the non-negotiable foundation of our platform. Eric’s leadership will be a massive asset to our customers and our team as we define the next generation of enterprise security for multi-agent systems.”

With AI innovation accelerating faster than the security patterns designed to protect it, enterprises face a new set of operational risks, from data protection and agent oversight to the complex future of agentic authentication and non-human identities. Freeman’s appointment comes at a pivotal moment, equipping WRITER with the deep expertise to set the standard for what secure-by-default AI looks like across the stack. He will focus on strengthening agent oversight and authentication, architecting solutions like zero-trust and least-privilege frameworks that enable AI agents to operate securely within enterprise environments, and expanding platform features that use AI to enhance security through triage, continuous testing, and automated analysis.
“Security needs to move at the pace of innovation, not behind it. WRITER has consistently been ahead of the curve with the guardrails, controls, and supervision required for agentic systems,” said Eric Freeman, CISO at WRITER. “Agentic AI requires entirely new security models, and my goal is to set a new standard for scaling what secure-by-default looks like in practice.”

WRITER’s security posture is already among the most comprehensive in the AI industry. WRITER is one of the first AI model developers to achieve the full ISO trust triad – ISO/IEC 27001 (information security), ISO/IEC 27701 (privacy management), and ISO/IEC 42001 (AI risk management). As the company continues to grow and expand its customer base among Fortune 500 companies, Freeman’s expertise will be critical in sustaining the trust and security that have become synonymous with WRITER.
Freeman brings over a decade of experience in building and scaling security programs across high-growth environments in fintech, SaaS, blockchain, and infrastructure. Most recently, he served as Head of Security at Patreon, where he led initiatives spanning secure-by-default engineering, regulatory compliance, incident response, and enterprise security. Previously, he served as VP of Security and Reliability at Blockdaemon and Director of Security at BlockFi, where he built zero-to-one security organizations, streamlined fragmented tooling across multi-cloud environments, and delivered measurable reductions in bugs, breach likelihood, and supply chain risk.
